Megan and Danial eloped at Blue Lakes in Breckenridge, a beautiful location with the perfect mix of lake, mountain, and forest views (and a few small waterfalls)! It was one of the most exciting elopements I’ve shot. I still feel so honored to have helped them plan the perfect Colorado elopement!
The Ceremony
Megan and Danial drove from Las Vegas to Colorado (with their adorable pup Aiden) and they were looking for an intimate ceremony and decided self-solemnizing was the way to go. Shout out to Colorado for being one of the few states you can self solemnize in! We met up at a nearby gas station around 5:30 am and caravanned up the long dirt road to Blue Lakes only to find out the second half of the road was closed off. At that point, we decided to hike the rest of the way with all of our gear. We had a mile walk uphill ahead of us, and while none of us intended on hiking to the ceremony site, Megan and Danial were absolute rock stars and said, “F it, let’s do this thing!”.
We came across a small waterfall tucked away just off the main dirt road along our walk. Once Megan and Danial saw it, they just knew *this* was the perfect location for their Blue Lakes sunrise elopement ceremony. We had about 20 minutes before the sun popped up over the mountains – just enough time for Megan and Danial to get changed into their wedding attire and have a first look before the ceremony. During the ceremony, they decided to exchange their own handwritten vows. It was so sweet and personal – I may have shed a tear or two…it happens.
Post Ceremony
After their ceremony, we grabbed some portraits, then headed back to their Airbnb, where Megan had a special surprise for Danial. Remember earlier when I mentioned they drove out here with their pup Aiden? Well, Megan had a custom suit made for Aiden that perfectly matched Danial’s. So naturally, we set up the first look for Danial and Aiden (how freaking cute you guys?!). Megan and Danial spent the rest of the morning celebrating their marriage with gluten-free chocolate muffins and champagne. Doesn’t get much better than that!
